Getting to Know Generations

What separates Baby Boomers, Gen X and Millennials?

Learn more about how your brand can use promotional products to reach and impress different generations.

Age is more than just a number when it comes to marketing. That's why it’s no secret that older and younger generations have different opinions and styles. Learning more about different generations' values, preferences and more provides brands with the opportunity to develop stronger relationships with their audience.

No matter what it is, every generation owns promotional products, but some generations are more likely to own and keep the items they receive than others. According to the Advertising Specialty Institute, Gen X households are likely to own more promotional products than Millennials and Baby Boomers are.

While Gen X households are likely to own more items, ASI reports that 45% of Baby Boomers keep some promotional products for more than 10 years and 51% of Millennials own some for more than 5 years.

While it’s the thought that counts, recipients are more likely to keep a product if it’s something they enjoy or supports their values. The best way to reach an audience on a deeper level is to show them that your brand shares, understands and values what they think and believe.

Over the last several years, the demand for eco-friendly, recycled and sustainable products has skyrocketed. As this trend continues, audiences will expect brands to be as green as possible. Learn more about selecting eco-friendly solutions in our Reduce, Reuse, Recycle blog.

Put their safety first. Masks are becoming increasingly popular with every age range, but consumers that are 35-54 are more likely to do business with an advertiser who gave them a branded mask. Learn more about how branded face masks can benefit your brand by checking out Product Spotlight: Face Masks.

Baby Boomers are most favorable to advertisers if the promo product they received was made in the United States. If your audience is primarily over the age of 55, be sure to check out our USA Collection featuring products made in the United States for ideas and inspiration.
